David Beckham’s Pet Project
Inter Miami is a new MLS franchise that came into existence mostly thanks to the former England captain David Beckham. Not only did the Becks invest millions of his own money, but he also was crucial for getting Inter Miami its MLS license.

The story goes that when he signed for Los Angeles Galaxy back in 2007 as a designated player, one of the clauses in his contract was that he would be able to launch a new MLS franchise if he decided to do so.
For the past couple of years, Beckham has been heavily involved in everything regarding his team, including stuff about the new stadium, as well as things related to building up the squad.
Inter Miami’s First-Ever MLS Game
Inter Miami has spent tens of millions of dollars to create a squad that would be able to do well in its inaugural MLS season. Although this team is not among the favorites for winning the MLS Cup or even advancing to the play-offs, there’s no doubt Inter Miami has some super-talented players in the team.
The man who is expected to lead Inter Miami to glory is Matias Pellegrini, an Argentine playmaker who’s transfer from Estudiantes cost the American team more than $10M.
Pellegrini is turning 20 in 10 days and is one of a number of youngsters that make up this team. In fact, the average age of the Inter Miami squad is just over 25, with their oldest player being their goalkeeper Luis Robles who is the team captain.
Robles joined the club from New York Red Bull and is one of the not-too-many Inter Miami players with extensive experience. That can come as a problem for them tonight when they’re facing a much more experienced team.
Oddsmakers Think LAFC Will Win This
Soccer sportsbooks have made Los Angeles FC the number one candidate for winning the title this season. The team did very well in 2019, winning the Western Conference in the regular season. LAFC reached the Conference Final, in which they lost to Seattle Sounders FC, who then went on to win the MLS Cup.
Pretty much the same players who were crucial for LAFC’s success in 2019 are still in the squad, including Carlos Vela who won the top-goalscorer award last season.
Speaking of the devil, Vela is among the favorites for winning the same award this season as well, with the odds on the Mexican striker being around +300. Carlos Vela is also the top candidate for scoring in today’s game, with the odds as short as -250.
