Reason for Augsburg vs FC Koln Predictions

Augsburg suffered a 2-0 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt in their midweek Bundesliga fixture. They will be disappointed to have come away empty-handed after missing a number of chances with Alfred Finnbogason also blazing a second-half penalty wide. The result means Augsburg remains in the bottom half of the table and must start looking nervously over their shoulders. They are just seven points above the relegation zone, with the likes of Mainz and Hertha Berlin on the rise in recent weeks. However, they remain poor defensively and have conceded in 13 of their last 14 home matches. Andre Hahn is a great player, he creates a lot of problems for his opponents, and the greatest virtue of this guy is speed. Florian Niederlechner was the best player on the team last season, he scored thirteen goals, he is doing great in the penalty area, and he is a real team leader, all praise for him.

FC Koln gave themselves a boost in their quest for survival as they claimed a surprise 2-1 victory over RB Leipzig last time out in the Bundesliga. They rode their luck at times during the game but were able to secure the win thanks to a brace from captain Jonas Hector. It was a much-needed win for Friedhelm Funkel’s team and ended a run of 10 matches without a victory. The visitors remain in the relegation zone but will hope to use the result as a springboard for survival. The problem for Koln is a poor record on their travels. They have lost their last five away matches, a run that includes a 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich and a 3-0 drubbing at Bayer Leverkusen in their previous outing on the road. Jonas Hector plays well in the middle of the pitch, and he does not allow the opponent much action. Marius Wolf plays excellently, he is fast in the one-on-one game, and he is unstoppable. The bench players are expected to show as much as possible and impose themselves on the coach for the starting lineup.

It is going to be a very tight clash in which both sides have the chance to take points. It won’t be surprising if the game ends in a draw.

We can expect a big fight between these two teams, and both of them should be able to score. We don’t believe either side will keep the clean sheet.
