Reason for Getafe vs Athletic Bilbao Predictions

It looked to be a long road to safety for Getafe just over a month ago, but they now find themselves on the brink of moving outside of the relegation places. They have shown excellent fight in their last five games, as they have picked up two wins and have lost on just one occasion. Their decent run of form continued last weekend, as they played out a 0-0 draw away from home against Mallorca. It seemed as though Getafe were only more than happy to take a point away from that fixture, as they didn’t register a single shot on target and allowed Mallorca to dictate the pace of the game. However, the point means that they now have ten points and are just two points away from a place outside the relegation zone. Their latest results really do illustrate the fact that huge efforts have been put in by the Getafe rearguard. Getafe has been miserly, seeing the tally of goals that have gone in at their end over the course of their past six outings standing at 4. Nemanja Maksimovic found the right role in the team, he moves great in the middle of the field, and it isn’t easy to take the ball away from this guy. The bench players are expected to show as much as possible and impose themselves on the coach for the starting lineup.

It has been a miserable run of form for Athletic Bilbao, as they have dropped down the standings very quickly. Their aim will still be to finish in a European place this season, but they will need to turn around their form to achieve that swiftly. Bilbao is without a win in their last five league fixtures and has been held to four draws during that run. They are now three points behind Barcelona and eight off the Champions League spots. The stats don’t lie, and Athletic Bilbao has been scored against in 5 of their last six games, letting opponents get six goals in all. In defense, Athletic Bilbao has some weaknesses to address. That pattern isn’t assured to be carried forward here, however. Muniain has excellent control of the ball, and he can play in several positions. Inaki Williams enjoys the pitch, and when he receives the ball and heads towards the goal, the opponent has problems. He does great in the penalty area.

Conclusion

It will be a big battle between these two teams, and it will not be surprising if the match ends in a draw.

We can also expect a goal in both nets, and neither side should keep the clean sheet.
